CNY celebrations at Quarry Bay School
At ESF Quarry Bay School, Each year level have their very own focus to celebrate and understand the meaning and different aspects of Chinese New Year.
The Years 1 to 3 students had the chance to make sweet glutinous rice balls, while Years 4 to 6 made dumplings with the help of parent volunteers.
Another highlight was the CNY Assembly which was presented in the form of drama. It was about families travelling during the CNY and sharing their experience with each other through Whatsapp. Students shared about the food, culture and some history facts regarding CNY celebrations in Singapore, Korea, Vietnam and Hong Kong. It was a combined effort from different after school clubs.
Apart from the in-school celebrations, the Year 1 children went to a Chinese restaurant to have dim sum, while the Year 5s ventured out to Victoria Park flower market to put their Chinese bargaining skills to the test. They had to get a present for their family with the HK$100 that they brought to the trip.
