School Fees for the 2020/21 Academic Year
Dear Parents
These are unprecedented times.
When we started this current school year, nobody could have imagined that we would have to face the kind of challenges that have come our way these past few months. From the social unrest to the Covid-19 pandemic, I have never known such difficult times in my long career as an educator.
While our staff have been nothing short of extraordinary and our students, typically, amazing – I do know that the events of the past year have placed a heavy burden on you, our families. You have had to cope with in-school class suspensions of a type not seen in a generation, you have faced an economic slowdown that could well end up to be unprecedented in its scale and, of course, you have had to deal with the anxiety of your family living through a time that is often hard to comprehend.
We know that these pressures will not disappear overnight, especially the financial ones. Hong Kong, like the rest of the world, will have to regroup and rebuild once this crisis is over. ESF wants to play its part in supporting our students and their families, our staff and our city as this process of recovery begins.
That is why I am pleased to tell you that the ESF Board has tonight agreed not to increase school fees next year, therefore freezing them at this year’s levels.
As I have said to you many times before – and will say many times again – I am incredibly proud to lead this wonderful organisation. We all face uncertain times but I have no doubt that we can meet any challenge that comes our way and continue to make good on that simple promise we made to you when you entrusted us with your child’s education: that we will help every one of our students be the best that they can be.
